Retail Stores & Shopping Centres
Compliance That Doesn't Close the Shop
From POS systems and display lighting to back-of-house equipment and cleaning gear, retail stores have more electrical appliances than most people think to count. All of it needs to be maintained under AS/NZS 3760, and if something fails and there’s no test record in place, your insurance and your compliance position both take a hit. It’s one of those things that seems easy to put off, until it isn’t.
We schedule retail testing before opening, after close, or on your quietest trading day. For shopping centres, we coordinate tenancy by tenancy so disruption is contained and the centre keeps running normally. Every tenancy or store gets its own section in the compliance report, and your centre manager gets a consolidated overview of the full site. Every tenancy has its own section. Your centre manager gets the full site overview. Clean, simple.
FAQs
Retail & Shopping Centres FAQs
How often should retail stores have their equipment tested?
Low-risk retail environments are typically on a 12-month testing cycle. If you have equipment in high-wear areas, such as stockrooms, loading docks, and/or food preparation areas, those items may need more frequent testing. We’ll set out a clear schedule after the first visit.
Can you work outside of trading hours?
Yes, and for most retail clients, that’s exactly how we prefer to do it. Early morning, before the doors open or after closing, works well for single stores. For shopping centres, we can stagger across multiple nights to avoid disrupting trade.
Do shopping centres need separate reports per tenancy?
We can structure the report however works best for you. Most centre managers prefer individual tenancy reports with a combined site overview, so that each tenant has their own documentation and the centre has a complete compliance record. We set it up to match how your property is managed.
What if some of our tenants manage their own compliance?
Not a problem. We can test only the common areas and specific tenancies as needed, or do a full centre sweep. Whatever the scope of work is, we’ll stick to it and document accordingly.
Is there a minimum number of items needed to book a visit?
No minimum. We service single small stores with 20 items and large shopping centres with thousands. Pricing is based on the scope of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote before anything is confirmed.
